The OffsideOpen International New Music Festival Gelderland or Offside Festival was a jazz festival in the German-Dutch border area. It was founded in 2007 by Burkhard Hennen and took place a second time in 2008.

The three-day festival in August received organizational support from the cities of Geldern , Straelen and the Dutch municipality of Arcen . The festival was financed through donations from private sponsors. Burkhard Hennen, founder and artistic director of the Moers Festival from 1972 to 2005 , realized his vision of a festival from a single source, a holistic, overarching concept . For example - instead of professional fast food stall operators as happened in Moers through the city - Lower Rhine cuisine was offered by voluntary helpers, the trainees of Integra gGmbH . The approximately 200 helpers also took care of the infrastructure and logistics, so that of all the offers, Hennen decided on this festival initiative, as this offer was the most appealing to him.

From August 17th to 19th, 2007 the festival near Geldern took place on a total of three stages. More than 200 international musicians performed in Geldern and around the festival across borders. A particular attraction was the 40-strong Shibuza Shirazu Orchestra from Japan, which Hennen discovered in Yokohama in 1997. The ensemble started their European tour with the OffsideOpen Festival. But initially the orchestra stayed in the area for five days and performed in concerts including the school auditorium.

Due to a funding gap, Hennen pleaded for the next festival to take place later. But the other organizers preferred an annual cycle. As a result, Hennen resigned as artistic director in July 2008 and the festival name changed from OffsideOpen to Offside due to Hennen's naming rights. Offside 2008 took place from August 22nd to 24th, 2008 at Holländer See with Gunter Hampel , Klaus Doldinger , Jazzkantine and Mars Williams and other musicians. In 2008, Rainer Hanssen was the artistic director. There was no further edition of the festival because too many sponsors dropped out.
