Ogg Writ

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ogg Writ is a computer codec for animated text in connection with film and sound , the one with the Ogg - Video is used -Verkapselungformat.

It was initially designed to provide subtitles for Ogg Theora videos. Ogg Writ is also useful for displaying song texts with Ogg Vorbis , translations or instant messages with Ogg Speex or any other application where it makes sense to combine text with audio or video.

Unlike most subtitle formats, which are in the separate files of audio / video content, Ogg Writ is mixed with audio / video streams so that it can be delivered as one file.

Its design allows the format to be expanded with new features. It currently supports multiple languages and specific placement of text in one or more windows.

Since the beginning of 2008, the codec, which was only in an experimental stage and was of no practical use, has not been further developed. Similar codecs that can be used with Ogg are Kate and CMML.
