The house Ohlystrasse 75 is a building in Darmstadt's Paulusviertel .

History and description

The building was built in 1902 according to plans by the architect Karl Hofmann . The building once housed the official residence of the Grand Ducal Chief Forester. It is one of the oldest buildings in the Paulusviertel.

The two-storey administrative building belongs stylistically to the category of English country houses . With this - then modern - architectural style, the architect tried to adapt the administrative building to the residential buildings and villas of the Paulusviertel.

Typical of this architectural style are the natural stone cladding on the ground floor , the vertical half-timbering and the windows in the gable with small bars . The English style elements were combined with South Hessian style elements such as the plain tile roof and wooden shutters . Other eye-catching details include a bay window with leaded windows, carved half-timbering and the frog-mouth dormer on the east side of the building. A deer's head adorns the street facade .

The chimney covers typical of English country houses are no longer available.

Today the building houses the Darmstadt Forestry Office.

Monument protection

For architectural, architectural and urban historical reasons, the building is a listed building .
