Olaf Mast (born May 20, 1968 in Krefeld ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player . The two-meter-tall left-hander played in the right back space .
Career
Olaf Mast played for twelve years with several clubs in the two highest German leagues. With the OSC Rheinhausen he was promoted to the handball Bundesliga in 1993 and 1995 . In 1994 he and the team reached the first DHB Final Four in Hamburg. In 1995 he moved to THW Kiel , with whom he won the DHB Supercup in the same year and the German championship in 1996. After two years with Kiel, Mast went to TSV Bayer Dormagen , where he had already played in the past, and was promoted to the handball Bundesliga again in 1999. In over 300 appearances, he scored well over 1,000 goals in the first two divisions. He was also used in more than 20 Champions League games . He got 70 hits.
He later ended his playing career with TV Oppum and from 2003 with TV Korschenbroich in the regional handball league before starting his coaching career in Korschenbroich at the end of 2004. With the team he reached the West German Championship in 2007 and rose to the 2nd handball Bundesliga . At the end of 2007 he left the club. After a break of almost a year, he took over the then club division DJK Adler Königshof. During his three-year term of office he was a. a. Association league champion and won several district cup titles. After the 2010/11 season he stopped working there.
From November 2011 to the end of the 2012/13 season, Mast returned to his home club and from then on coached third division club SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen . He then became a trainer at the HSG Krefeld founded by the Uerdingen and the Adler Königshof . He left the club at the end of November 2017. In December 2017, he took over the North Rhine-Westphalia division TV Jahn Köln-Wahn. He did not extend the contract that expired at the end of the 2019/20 season.
For the 2020/21 season he took over the position of sporting director at OSC Rheinhausen.
