Olaf Schulze
Olaf Schulze (born May 26, 1967 in Geesthacht ) is a German politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
After completing secondary school in 1982, Schulze completed an apprenticeship as a gas and water installer by 1986 and then worked as a plumber. In 2001 he moved to IG Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt as union secretary and from 2002 to 2003 he attended the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main .
Political party
Schulze joined the SPD in 1985. From 1991 to 1993 he was Juso chairman in Geesthacht and was a member of the board of the SPD district association of the Duchy of Lauenburg for the first time . Between 2005 and 2011 he was deputy district chairman. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the SPD local association in Geesthacht.
MP
From 1988 to 1990 Schulze belonged to the community council of Dassendorf and from 1994 to 2001 of the council of Geesthacht. In his hometown he has been chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Geesthacht since 2008.
From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament and is the energy policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. From 2009 to 2015 he was a member of the parliamentary committee of the SPD parliamentary group and, from 2012, he was also the economic policy spokesman for the parliamentary group and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group for business, technology, tourism and transport.
Olaf Schulze has entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Lauenburg-Süd constituency . In the state elections in 2012, he received 38.7% of the first votes .
On November 8, 2015, he was elected mayor of Geesthacht with 60.0% of the vote . At the end of 2015, he gave back his mandate in the state parliament to take up his post as directly elected mayor.
