Olasunkanmi Adeniyi (* 12. September 1997 ) is an American American football poker players. He plays the position of linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League .

Career

Born in Nigeria, he came to the United States at the age of eight. Despite the age of a third grader, he was classified as ready for fifth grade. His mother chose fourth grade for him. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 and then went to the University of Toledo , where he played college football for the Toledo Rockets . He played a total of 27 games there, in which he scored 118 tackles and 12.5 sacks . Adeniyi, who was used in the position of the defensive end , sat out as a red shirt in 2014 and achieved three tackles in seven games as a backup player in 2015. As a Redshirt sophomore, he started all twelve games and scored 49 tackles and 4.0 sacks. His senior year got off to a bad start when he only scored one sack in the first six games of the season. In the second half of the season, however, he managed 7.5 sacks to help the Rockets achieve their first MAC title since 2004. For his achievements he was elected to the second team All-MAC .

After he was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft , the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him . He performed well during the preseason , but Adeniyi sustained a hamstring injury in the last preseason game. After initially making it into the final squad, one day later he was placed on the Injured Reserve List , but marked as designated to return . After he started training with the team again on November 21, 2018, he was brought back to the active squad on December 1.

In 2019, Adeniyi played in all 16 games. He saw most of the working time in the special teams, in which he also forced two fumbles. In defense, he played less than 70 snaps and could only achieve two tackles. He scored a total of eight tackles.
