Old Tom Morris Award

The Old Tom Morris Award is the highest honor awarded by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). It has been awarded every year since 1983 to a person who, through their continued commitment , has contributed to the good of golf in a similar way to Old Tom Morris .

Morris (1821-1908) was initially a greenkeeper in Prestwick , ran a golf club workshop in St Andrews , won the British Open four times as a golf professional (1861, 1862, 1864 and 1867) and made a name for himself from 1875 as a golf architect .

The award winner is nominated by the board of the GCSAA. The award is presented annually during the GCSAA training conference, which takes place in conjunction with a golf industry exhibition.
