Life

Ole Ring belonged to a Danish family of artists: his father, Laurits Andersen Ring (1854–1933), was a painter, and his mother, Sigrid Andersen, née Kähler (1874–1923), was a ceramicist . The brother Herman Anders Ring (1900–1948) worked as a blacksmith , the sister Ghita Johanne (1899–1948), married to the sculptor and painter Hans Hempel (1888–1963), was also a painter. Ole Ring received his education mainly from his father, whose artistic conception he reflected in the choice of motifs and the details of the forms of expression. He was one of the last representatives of landscape painting in the tradition of the Danish "golden age of painting" of the 19th century.

Ole Ring traveled to Austria in 1921 and to France in 1925 . Until 1929 he worked in Roskilde , 1930 to 1934 in Køge , 1934 to 1939 in Copenhagen , 1939 to 1946 (with wife Grete) in Præstø and then in Ringsted . His first marriage was Christence Vinther Pedersen (* 1903) in Roskilde in 1927; the marriage was divorced in 1935. In his second marriage he married the painter's daughter Grete Fuglsang Østed (* 1906) in Køge in 1935. In 1972 he committed suicide in Køge and was buried here in a collective grave.
