Lauritz Andersen Ring , also Lars Andersen Ring , actually Lauritz Andersen (born August 15, 1854 in Ring Südseeland , † September 10, 1933 in Roskilde ) was a Danish figure , genre , landscape , portrait painter , draftsman and ceramicist .

Life

Ring was the son of Anders Olsen. From 1875 to 1877 he studied at the Copenhagen Art Academy under F. Vermehren and Niels Simonsen. He continued studying at the art academy in 1884/1885. In 1886 he studied again at the art academy with PS Kröyer.

A study trip took him to Paris in 1888 . In the years 1894/1895 and 1900 Ring stayed in Italy . There he copied, among others, Pieter Bruegel the Elder .

Ring worked temporarily as a ceramicist at Herm in 1890 and 1896. A. Kähler in Nästved (Zealand). From 1909 to 1915 he was a member of the Academic Council.

He was mostly active on Zealand ( Copenhagen , Roskilde , Karrebäksminde, Frederiksvärk and Baldersbrönde) and is one of the most important painters in Denmark at the turn of the century . A number of his works can be found in Den Hirschsprungske Samling in Copenhagen.
