Ole Schäfer

Ole Schäfer (* 1970 in Gütersloh ) is a German typographic and type designer. His FF Fago font, published in 2000, is considered a modern classic by experts. He was involved in the development of the most successful ITC font Officina and the FontFont bestsellers FF Meta and FF Info .

Life

Ole Schäfer studied graphic design at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and worked from 1995 to 1999 as Type Director at MetaDesign in Berlin. There he managed projects for clients such as Audi , Volkswagen , Boehringer Ingelheim , Düsseldorf Airport , Sächsische Zeitung , Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and others. From 1999 to 2004 he worked as an independent type designer and lecturer for typography at the Design Academy in Berlin, from 2006 to 2007 he was a lecturer for typography at the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences. In 2002 he founded the font publisher and service provider Primetype .

Among other things, Ole Schäfer designed the television fonts for WDR television and revised and expanded the corporate fonts of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG . He is responsible for the text and headline fonts for the magazine PAGE and the Berlin city magazine tip .

Together with Karl-Heinz Lange , he revised various fonts from the former GDR and thus enabled them to be used with today's technical means.
