The MetaDesign GmbH , based in Berlin is a brand consultancy with international operations in the areas of brand strategy , brand design , brand management and brand innovation specialize. history
The Meta Design GmbH was founded in 1979 by Gerhard Dorrie, Florian Fischer, Dieter salvation and Erik Spiekermann founded in Berlin. In 1990 Erik Spiekermann, Uli Mayer-Johanssen and Hans Christian Krüger founded MetaDesign plus GmbH , from which MetaDesign AG emerged. MetaDesign has been a GmbH since 2017. In the summer of 2000, Spiekermann left the agency due to differences in content. In 2001 MetaDesign AG was taken over by the digital agency Lost Boys International (LBi) and has been part of the Publicis Groupe since 2013. MetaDesign GmbH has had its headquarters in the so-called MetaHaus in Berlin-Charlottenburg since 2001 .
In the early 1990s, MetaDesign AG developed the corporate design and the information and control system for the Berlin transport company . The projects managed by MetaDesign AG include the corporate design of the federal government (introduced from 1998–2001 by the advertising agency Odeon Zwo ), the Berlin Film Festival , the logo of the city of Berlin and the campaigns for the exhibitions Das MoMA in Berlin (2004) , The most beautiful French come from New York (2007) and Babylon. Myth and Truth (2008). MetaDesign AG is the lead agency for brand management for Volkswagen (since 1993), Deutsche Post AG (since 2006), DHL (since 2006), Siemens (since 2003) and Deutsche Telekom (since 2014).

Awards
In the course of its existence, MetaDesign GmbH has received a number of awards, including the Red Dot Design Award , iF Design Award , Art Directors Club , European Design Award , D&AD and the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany .
Since 1996 and 1997, respectively, the company has also topped the annual rankings of the specialist journals Horizont and Page (magazine) for the CD / CI agencies with the highest turnover in Germany.
