Uli Mayer-Johanssen

Uli Mayer-Johanssen (born  April 10, 1958  in  Osterburken ) is a German designer and brand specialist. She is co-founder of the branding agency MetaDesign AG and in 2010 received the renowned Horizont Award as “Agency Woman of the Year”.

Life

Uli Mayer-Johanssen studied graphic design and visual communication at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart and also obtained a diploma from the Berlin University of the Arts . In 1990 Mayer-Johanssen and two partners founded Meta-Design plus GmbH, from which today's MetaDesign AG emerged . Under her content-related and strategic responsibility, MetaDesign became the lead agency for various brands, such as B. Volkswagen , Audi , Deutsche Post or the Konzerthaus Berlin . After 25 years as Chairmen of the Executive Board, she ended her position on the board of MetaDesign at the end of 2014 and founded her own company.

Since 1994 Mayer-Johanssen u. a. as visiting professor at the Berlin University of the Arts , at ESCP-Europe, the Free University of Berlin or the Business School St. Gallen. As a brand expert, she regularly gives lectures at the German Design Council . She is a member of the decision-making body of the German Advertising Council and the German Designer Club , the leading club for designers in German-speaking countries. She is the author of several specialist articles and essays on strategic branding.

Since November 2018 Uli Mayer-Johanssen has been a member of the German society of the Club of Rome , which has set itself the task of contributing to the transformation towards a sustainable society. Uli Mayer-Johanssen sees this as an opportunity "to create positive narratives in order to leave fears of the future and old beliefs behind us and to develop a positive common vision of the future".
