Oleg Roslavlev

Oleg Roslavlev (born November 22, 1921 in Tallinn , † January 12, 1978 in Munich ) was a historian .

Life

Roslavlev was the son of the Reval lawyer Wladimir Roslavlev (* 1890 in Charkow , † 1945 in Eichstädt / Bavaria).

He attended the cathedral school in Reval . In 1939 the family moved from Estonia to Germany as a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact . In Munich he studied at the Technical University of Munich and obtained his diploma in 1951. His main occupation was from 1958 as an engineer in road planning and road construction. He oversaw projects in Iraq , Pakistan and Latin America .

His family's acquaintance with the historian Paul Johansen aroused his interest in Estonian history at an early stage. He researched the history of settlements in Estonia and published studies and articles on it. His main interest was the Petserland ( Pechory ) and Southeast Estonia. From 1965 to 1978 he published the "Hehefte zur Landeskunde Estonia".

Since 1972 he has been a corresponding member of the Baltic Historical Commission .

His estate is in the Estonian National Archives in Tallinn.
