Olga Dinnikova (born February 5, 1985 in Riga , Latvian SSR , USSR ) is a Swiss actress , director and screenwriter .

Life

Dinnikova grew up in Latvia and Israel , and has lived in Switzerland since 2000 . 

From 2004 to 2007 she studied film acting at the European Film Actor School (EFAS) in Zurich . She played her first television role in 2007 in the SRF television series Tag und Nacht , followed by numerous appearances in film and television, including in feature films such as Maria von Michael Koch , Ispansi! by Carlos Iglesias and Nightfall by Simon Aeby

In 2011 Dinnikova began her bachelor's degree in film at the Zurich University of the Arts ( ZHdK ), which she successfully completed in 2014 with the short film Luftschloss , which was nominated for the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award 2016.

From 2014 to 2016 Dinnikova continued her studies at the ZHdK and completed her master’s degree in screenplay . During this time she wrote the scripts for the short fiction film Aquarium , directed by Cosima Frei, which was co-produced by Swiss television , and the feature film Peripherie , for which she wrote the episode “Sonja”. The latter celebrated its world premiere in 2016 at the Zurich Film Festival and was nominated for the “Prix du Public” at the Solothurn Film Festival.

In addition to standard German and Russian, Dinnikova also speaks Swiss German. She is married and lives with her husband and their son in Zurich.
