Michael Koch (born July 2, 1982 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss director and actor .

Live and act

Michael Koch worked as an actor at the Junge Theater Basel from 1999 to 2002 . From 2003 to 2008 he studied at the Art School for Media in Cologne and worked as an actor in several cinema and television films. Michael Koch was introduced to a broader Swiss audience through his leading role as Antonio Carrera in the feature film Achtung ,ready, Charlie! known.

During his studies, he made the short films Wir sind dir treu and Beckenrand . The films have been shown at over 100 film festivals around the world and have received numerous international awards, including the Prix ​​Canal + Award at the Festival du Court-Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand , the ARTE short film award at the International Film Festival of Munich Film Schools and the audience award at the international documentary film Festival in Madrid.

In 2008 Michael Koch finished his studies at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne with the short film Polar . The film was honored with an honorable mention at the Berlinale 2009 and won, among other things, the award for the best German film at this year's Dresden Film Festival and the 2009 German Camera Prize .

As part of TREIBSTOFF 09 - Theatertage Basel , Michael Koch staged the play Wild Hearts in the cultural institution Kaserne Basel in September .

Koch lives and works in Basel and Berlin.
