The Oligoclada pachystigma is one of the 24 dragonfly species of the genus Oligoclada from the subfamily Brachydiplacinae . The species has its main distribution along the Amazon and its foothills. It was first described in 1890 by Ferdinand Karsch using an animal from Angostura .

Construction of the Imago

The abdomen ( abdominal ) attaches Oligoclada pachystigma -Männchen 14.3 to 17.5 millimeters. In females, the length fluctuates a little less with 15 to 16.1 millimeters. The female abdomen is yellowish brown and darkens towards the back. The underside is just as dark to black. The female thorax is also brown and has yellow markings. The hind wings measure between 17.4 and 21.0 millimeters in the males. Those of the females are slightly larger at 20.3 to 22.0 millimeters. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) reaches 1.5 to 2.3 millimeters in the males and 1.8 to 1.1 millimeters in the females. The number of anterodal veins is eight to ten and a half in the fore wing and five to seven in the hind wing. The last antenodal loader in the front wing is almost always complete, so it extends from the Costa loader to the radius artery . Postnodal veins exist six to nine and five to seven.
