Olimpija Riga ( Futbola Klubs Olimpija Riga ) was a Latvian football club from the capital Riga .
history
The club was founded in 1992 as FK Kompar-Daugava Riga. In the first season, the club finished 5th in the 1st division . Jurijs Hudjakovs became the club's top scorer. Dzintars Sproģis was named the best defender in the Latvian league in 1992. In the same year Kompar-Daugava reached the cup final , but lost 1-0 after extra time against Skonto Riga .
In 1993 the club was renamed FK Olimpija Riga. It was named after the Riga Olimpija Bank , which supported the association financially. This year the team was runner-up in Virslīga behind Skonto Riga. Goalkeeper Ēriks Grigjans and Andrejs Štolcers from midfield were both nominated as the best players in their positions. For the 1994 season they acquired national goalkeeper Oļegs Karavajevs . The club finished fourth in the league but won the Latvian Cup with a 2-0 victory over DAG Riga.
In 1995 most of the players left the club. The bank also dropped out as a sponsor. In the league they finished ninth and penultimate place. After the season, the club was dissolved.
