Oļegs Karavajevs (born February 13, 1961 in Barnaul ) is a former Latvian football goalkeeper .
Athletic career
Club career
Karavajevs played mainly in the second-highest division of the USSR in the 1980s . In the 1984 season he stood for Kairat Alma-Ata in two games in the Wysschaja Liga between the posts.
After stints in Yugoslavia and Cyprus - interrupted by a brief flying visit to his home country, which has now become independent - the 1.86 meter tall goalkeeper moved to Germany in the summer of 1994 . With FC Carl Zeiss Jena , he was promoted from third division to the second division in the 1994/95 season . Karavajevs was used in 16 of the 34 games. From the beginning of the 1995/96 season he guarded the gate of FSV Zwickau , which this year achieved the best placement of its four-year league membership with rank 5. Karavajevs played a total of 74 second division games for West Saxony. After the Zwickau's relegation, the goalkeeper went back to Riga, where he ended his career in 1999 after moving from Skonto to FK in the city center.
Selection bets
Karavajevs played 38 international matches for the Latvian national team between 1992 and 1999. He completed half of these selections during his stay in Germany - four as a player for FC Carl Zeiss and 15 as a professional for FSV Zwickau.
