Oliver G. Opitz

Oliver G. Opitz (born June 25, 1968 in Saarbrücken ) is a German oncologist , telemedicine and university professor .

Life

After completing his doctorate and working as an assistant at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , Opitz started fellowships at Harvard Medical School , Boston, and the University of Pennsylvania , Philadelphia. He completed his habilitation in 2003 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg for internal medicine and in 2006 became director of the Tumor Center Ludwig Heilmeyer - Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg , one of the first comprehensive cancer centers in Germany designated by the German Cancer Aid (in addition to Cologne / Bonn, Dresden, Tübingen and Heidelberg). Over the years, he has acted as the responsible applicant in numerous successful joint application processes , such as the Center for Translational Cell Research or the recently established German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research and as a reviewer for numerous research funding institutions and international journals and has been on the editorial board of Gastroenterology since 2010 . He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association .

Since 2014 Opitz has been director of the Heinrich Lanz Center for Digital Health at the Mannheim University Medical Center at the Mannheim Medical Faculty of the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In August 2018 he took over the management of the Telemedicine Coordination Office in Baden-Württemberg.
