Oliver Martin

Oliver "Butch" Martin (born July 10, 1946 in New York City ) is a former American cyclist and current cycling trainer.

Butch Martin started twice at the Olympic Games: in 1964 in the team pursuit on the track , where the American team was eliminated in the first round, and in 1968 in the team time trial (20th place). In 1971 he also started at the Pan American Games .

In 1973 Martin retired from active cycling and became a successful coach. For several years he looked after national teams at World Championships and Olympic Games. He was active as a sporting director in bicycle races, for example in the Tour of the Americas and in national championships. He was also a member of the board of directors of USPro , the former agency for American professional racing drivers. His wife Rebecca was also active as a cyclist.

In 2005, Butch Martin was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
