Oliver Roth (* 1977 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( flute , alto flute).

Career

Roth grew up in a musical household and received classical flute lessons from the age of eleven. He studied at the Music Academy of the City of Basel and the Zurich University of the Arts with Günter Wehinger, Dani Blanc, Brigitte Briener and Miriam Dickinson. There were also workshops and master classes with David Liebman , Esbjörn Svensson , George Gruntz and Wolfgang Muthspiel .

Since 1994 Roth has given numerous concerts in Europe, South Korea and Kazakhstan. After working in a duo with the pianist Reto Straub, he founded his own quartet Humour's Humidity with him, Martin Wyss and Michi Stulz , with which he released his debut album on Unit Records in 2009 . In the last few years he was mainly a member of the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra , but also with the Alien Ensemble around Micha Acher and the Kombinat Alpenrösli . He can also be heard on recordings of The Notwist .
