Oliver Wiertz

Oliver J. Wiertz (born March 7, 1964 in Mainz ) is a German philosopher .

Life

From 1970 to 1983 he attended the Martinus elementary school and the Willigis grammar school in Mainz-Altstadt . He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Philosophical-Theological University Sankt Georgen Frankfurt (1985–1987), philosophy at the University of Philosophy in Munich (1987–1989) and Catholic theology at the PTH Sankt Georgen Frankfurt (1989–1994). During his doctoral studies in Catholic theology at the PTH St. Georgen (1994–2000) he received the sponsorship award from the Freundeskreis Sankt Georgen e. V. and studied in 1998 as a graduate visiting student with Richard Swinburne at Oriel College . From 2000 to 2004 he trained as a pastoral officer in the diocese of Mainz and worked as a pastoral assistant in the parishes of St. Jakobus in Friedberg - Ockstadt and St. Michael in Rosbach vor der Höhe . From 2003 to 2005 he completed a doctoral degree in philosophy at the Goethe University . As a lecturer and lecturer , he taught philosophy at the PTH Sankt Georgen Frankfurt from 2005 to 2006. Since 2008 he has been professor of philosophy at the PTH Sankt Georgen Frankfurt.

His research interests are philosophy of religion (especially: rationality of religious convictions, problem of evil, religious diversity), epistemology (especially: epistemic theories of justification) and the history of analytical philosophy.
