The Olympia Brass Band is a brass band in New Orleans that was founded in 1958 by Harold Dejan , who previously played in the Eureka Brass Band .

There was already an Olympia Orchestra or an Olympia Brass Band, which existed from 1900 to 1915 with interruptions. From around 1906, Freddie Keppard was in charge , and he was probably there until he moved to California at the end of 1912. In addition, there played King Oliver (as second cornet next Keppard), Alphonse Picou , and temporarily Sidney Bechet , Louis Armstrong , Lorenzo Tio , Bunk Johnson , Louis Nelson Delisle . From 1913 it was taken over by Armand J. Piron .

The Olympia Band, founded in 1958, was part of the renaissance of brass bands in New Orleans. It usually consists of three trumpets, two trombones, two saxophones, clarinet, tuba or sousaphone, snare drum and bass drum. In 1966 they played at Kid Howard's funeral . In 1968 they were in Berlin and appeared in a parade in Dahlem , they played in London in 1972 on the radio for the 25th wedding anniversary of the Queen and in New Orleans during the visit of Pope John Paul II. In 1973 they appeared in the James Bond film Life and let them die on a funeral march. In addition to parades, they also played in the Preservation Hall once a week for a long time . There are many recordings of them.

It included Kid Sheik Cola , trumpeter Andy Anderson, tenor saxophonist Emanuel Paul and Alan Jaffe on the sousaphone.
