The Omnibus Transportation Göppingen OVG Bliederhäuser GmbH & Co. KG operates as a licensed private company in its own roadmap responsibilities 23 bus lines in Göppingen and environment within the Filsland mobility network . The company, founded in 1926, is today the largest private local transport service provider in the Göppingen district with around 150 employees and 73 vehicles . The OVG is located in the Jebenhausen district of Göppingen .

history

On November 23, 1926, the wood goods manufacturer Carl Hommel founded the Göppingen bus service. Just two years later, twelve vehicles were used on eight bus routes.

After the company premises in Bahnhofstrasse had become too small, the company moved to Eberhardstrasse in 1938.

In 1960 the company operated over 30 buses. After Carl Hommel's death in 1962, his daughter Gertrud Bliederhäuser took over the management. Since the expansion of local public transport had priority at the end of the 1960s, excursion and rental bus services were ceded to other companies.

Today's depot was opened in Jebenhausen on October 23, 1976. The vehicle fleet at that time consisted of 41 buses.

On May 3rd, 2012 the Göppingen CityBus was decided. The OVG ordered several Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 minibuses, which have been used on the new CityBus routes 92 (ZOB - Klinik am Eichert), 93 (ZOB - Galgenberg) and 95 (ZOB - Reusch) since the timetable change in December 2012. However, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 buses are rarely used for late evening trips on other routes.

With the timetable change in December 2012, lines 3 and 4 were split up. Courses of line 3 only to Ursenwang Kiefernsteige were renamed to line 43. Courses on line 3 to Schlat Bachstrasse kept number 3. Courses on line 4 only to Rechberghausen were renamed to line 44. Courses on line 4 to Börtlingen kept number 4. This was discontinued after a month.

The airport and trade fair feeder line X15, known as FAirLiner , was operated independently by OVG from October 19, 2007 in cooperation with the Sihler company from Geislingen. Due to the low number of passengers, the companies ceased operations after one year of operation on October 19, 2008.

Vehicle fleet

The vehicle fleet, consisting of 66 buses, is now low-floor. 29 units of the Citaro c2 model , 6 units of the Citaro and 23 units of the Citaro in the facelift version are used as solo vehicles . The two Citaro with intercity equipment that were acquired in 2007 for the X15 line are now used in normal regular service. A Mercedes-Benz O 405 GN2 as well as two Citaro and four Citaro in the facelift version operate as articulated buses . A silver Citelis from Irisbus has also been in stock since 2008 . On August 3, 2012, a Citaro vehicle burned out completely and had to be retired. In July 2013, the last two high-floor buses of the type O 405 were taken out of service. With the timetable change in December 2012, three city bus lines were set up, which can drive through the narrow streets and alleys of the city center, so that it is even better connected. For this purpose, buses of the type Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 were purchased, which are used on the CityBus routes 92, 93 and 95. Some of these minibuses also run on less frequented other lines, especially on weekends. From January 2015 to September 2016, all 15 o405n buses were replaced with new Citaro c2 buses. From September 2017 the oldest Citaro 1s will also be replaced by new Citaro c2 buses. The two articulated buses of the type O 405 G were retired in 2017 and scrapped in 2019 (car 54 + 56). An O 405 GN (car 57) was also scrapped in 2019 and replaced by a new c2 hybrid.
