The Ondosero ( Russian Ондозеро , karel. Ontajärvi ) is a lake in the Republic of Karelia in Russia .
The Ondosero is traversed by the Onda River, which flows into the Wygosero to the east . The catchment area of the Ondosero covers 2560 km². The outflow is regulated by a dam so that the height of the water level varies by 2.1 m. The water area is 182.4 km², including the islands it is 193 km². The mean water depth is 3.3 m, the maximum is 8 m. The lake is frozen from the beginning of November to the beginning of May. In summer the water temperature in the Ondosero reaches 25 ° C.
There are 54 islands with a total area of 10.6 km². The largest are: Teronschari (4.86 km²), Woischari , Laidaschari , Sunaschari , Ulja-Shari . There are also two smaller archipelagos: Purucharet and Shalamasharet .
The shores of the lake are not high and mostly stony. The western bank is higher than the eastern.
There are 13 species of fish in the Ondosero: vendace , coregonus , grayling , pike , rutilus , hazel , aland , phoxinus , bream , burbot , stickleback , perch and ruffle .
