The Oneida River is a river in the US state of New York .
The Oneida River forms the drain of Oneida Lake . He leaves it at its western end. It flows at the start by about Cicero belonging place Brewerton . After 2.5 km the Erie Canal branches off to the left. The Oneida River runs 3.5 km to the northwest before making a turn and flowing 8 km to the south. The Erie Canal meets the river again halfway. Shortly afterwards, a meandering arm of the Oneida River is cut through by the Morgan Cut of the Erie Canal. The river now turns to the west and now makes a second loop of the river. While the Oneida River flows 4 km to the north, the Erie Canal branches off to the left and flows straight to the west. Shortly after their reunification, the Oneida River finally meets the north-flowing Seneca River after a total distance of 25 km at Three Rivers and unites with it to form the Oswego River . At the northern tip of the first bend in the river there is a weir on the course of the river. This is level with lock # 23 of the Erie Canal.
