The Ong (also Ang ) is a right tributary of the Mahanadi in the Indian state of Odisha .
It rises in the north of the Nuapara district . The Saipala Dam lies on the upper reaches . It flows through the districts of Bargarh , North Balangir and Sonapur initially in a northeastern direction, later in an easterly direction and flows northwest of the city of Sonapur into the Mahanadi River.
