Open Heart is an American documentary - short film from 2012. The film about a heart clinic in Soba , Sudan , received 2,013 nominated for the Academy Award for Best Short Documentary.

In his film, Kief Davidson reports on eight Rwandan children who need heart surgery. They travel to Soba in Sudan , 3,000 miles away , where the Salam Center is the only clinic in Africa that offers free treatment. The children suffer from a chronic rheumatic heart disease caused by a streptococcal infection. The film accompanies the Rwandan cardiologist Dr. Emmanuel Rusingiza and the Italian surgeon Gino Strada , who in his role as chief doctor is fighting for the future of the clinic built by the emergency aid organization . The camera accompanies the children into the operating room and shows the convalescence phase . The parents of the children and the treating doctors have their say in interviews.
