Heldreich's Ragwurz ( Ophrys heldreichii ) on Crete

features

Ophrys heldreichii is a perennial tuber geophyte that reaches heights of 10 to 65 cm. The sepals are mostly intense pink. The lateral petals often overlap at the base. The lip measures 13 to 16 × 15 to 18 mm. Your appendage is bent forward, often multi-toothed and 2.5 to 5 mm long. The middle lobe is chestnut brown and very strongly arched, so that the lateral edges touch at the bottom. The mark is brownish violet, often H-shaped and surrounds the orange-brown basal field like a lump. The mark is surrounded by a yellowish-white border, which branches out irregularly and can form extensive patterns. The humps of the densely hairy side lobes are elongated horn-shaped.

The flowering period extends from March to May, rarely beginning in February.
