The Orchidoideae are a subfamily of the orchids (Orchidaceae). It mainly includes those orchids with a single fertile anthers that are erect and do not form leaves below the inflorescence . In addition to these plants, based on DNA analyzes, the earlier subfamily of the Spiranthoideae is also included, now as the tribe Cranichideae. All species of the Orchidoideae therefore have in common:
- the (ground-level) habitat,
- sectile pollen
- and erect anthers.
Tribus and sub-tribus
The Orchidoideae consist of two subclades that contain the following tribe and sub- tribus :
1.
- Tribus Orchideae
Verm.
- Habenariinae Benth.
- Orchidinae Verm.
- Tribus Diseae Dressler
- Disinae Benth.
- Satyriinae
2.
- Tribe Cranichideae
- Cranichidinae
- Goodyerinae
- Pachyplectroninae
- Prescottiinae Dressler
- Spiranthinae Lindl. ex Meisn.
- Tribe Diurideae
