The Orchidoideae are a subfamily of the orchids (Orchidaceae). It mainly includes those orchids with a single fertile anthers that are erect and do not form leaves below the inflorescence . In addition to these plants, based on DNA analyzes, the earlier subfamily of the Spiranthoideae is also included, now as the tribe Cranichideae. All species of the Orchidoideae therefore have in common:

  • the (ground-level) habitat,
  • sectile pollen
  • and erect anthers.
