Moris' Ragwurz ( Ophrys morisii ) is a plant from the genus of Ragwurzen in the family of orchid (Orchidaceae). It blooms from March to April.
features
This herbaceous perennial plant reaches heights of between 15 and 40 cm. The inflorescence includes 3 to 10 flowers . The sepals are usually whitish to pinkish-purple in color, but in rare cases they can also appear green. The hairy and wavy petals are always orange to dark brown-red in color. The weakly three-lobed lip appears dark brown, sometimes dark purple. The brown-violet mark is very variable, but mostly extensive and richly structured and always has a white border.
Location and distribution
You can find this orchid on poor pastures, light maquis and garrigues with basic to slightly acidic soils up to a height of 900 m . The distribution area extends over Sardinia . There is also information about finds in Corsica , but these have to be examined more closely. The species thrives at altitudes between 15 and 1000 meters above sea level.
