Opinião Pública (dt .: Public opinion) was a Portuguese Mod - punk - band from Lisbon .
history
It was founded in 1981 in the midst of the Boom do Rock Português , the wave of emerging Portuguese rock bands. With its most important figurehead, the band UHF , the group cultivated a special relationship. They played a number of concerts together, and UHF singer António Manuel Ribeiro produced their album.
The record recording became possible for them after they did well in the band competition of the Festival Só Rock (Eng .: Festival only rock) in Coimbra in 1981 . The group released a single and an album on which Rotação - music label . While the single, similar to the early works of UHF, showed clear influences of punk rock and power pop, the spectrum of the pieces on the album was broader, and also included rock and new wave songs. Despite the short lifespan of the group and the low level of success they enjoyed at the time, the band was able to gain some attention in Mod and Powerpop circles. Her piece Puto da Rua (German: street boy) , published as a single, appeared in 1999 on the sixth edition of the international rarities compilation Powerpearls .
