Opuntia hitchcockii is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the American botanist Albert Spear Hitchcock .

Opuntia hitchcockii grows low and shrubby and reaches heights of up to 50 centimeters. The green shoot sections are circular. The multiple, white thorns are up to 3 inches long.

Distribution and systematics
Opuntia hitchcockii is found in the Mexican state of Sinaloa near the city of Mazatlán .
It was first described in 1930 by Jesús González Ortega .
