The building next to the Basilica of San Francesco in Via Immacolatella was built between 1725 and 1726 under the direction of the architect Gaetano Lazzara on behalf of the "Compagnia dell'Immacolata" founded in 1575 on the foundation walls of a previous building. The only adornment of the simple, three-part facade is the crowning of the entrance with a Madonna medallion , which is roofed by putti accompanied by a wave gable. The interior was decorated with stucco by Procopio Serpotta and his collaborator Vincenzo Perez . The ceiling fresco with scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary is by the lesser known Vincenzo Dongiovanni .

The medallions on the walls show the four church fathers ( Jerome , Augustine , Gregory the Great , Ambrose ) and other saints (St. Cyril of Alexandria , St. Sophronius of Jerusalem , St. John Chrysostom and the Holy Pope Anastasius I ), im In the presbytery the prophets Isaiah , Ezekiel , Jeremiah and Baruch are depicted.
