Saint Anastasius I ( Greek the risen ; * in Rome ; † December 19, 401 ) was Pope from November 27, 399 (according to Prosper Tiro of Aquitaine 398) to December 401 .
Little is known about the life and work of Anastasius I. Only three letters have survived in which he joins Origen's condemnation . His friends included St. Augustine , St. Jerome and St. Paulinus of Nola . Shortly before his death, he called a council in Rome.
Jerome reported Anastasius was his successor Father I. Innocent been.
The relics of St. Anastasius and those of his successor Innocent were brought to Gandersheim by the Saxon Count Liudolf in 846 , where they still rest in the crypt of the former collegiate church .
His feast day is December 19th.
