Order decoration

The order cross is a white enameled narrow paw cross . In the middle medallion it shows the white heraldic rose of Finland against a blue background. In the corners of the cross there are Finnish lions from the national coat of arms. The lapel is smooth. The crosses of the upper four classes are gold-plated, those of the fifth class are silver-plated.

The silver medal star (first and second class only) is five-pointed and shows the white rose in its center against a blue background. The middle medallion is surrounded by a black enameled band with the inscription Isänmaan hyväksi (For the good of the fatherland). The star of the grand cross has partially gold-plated rays.

The Order's collar originally consisted of two elements: nine white roses, which symbolized Finland's provinces, and nine golden swastikas . The swastikas were removed in 1963 and replaced with stylized fir branches . The collar is only available to the President of the Republic, but it can also be awarded to foreign heads of state. The medal can also be awarded with diamonds .

In decorations with swords, the crossed golden swords are placed under the medallion of the star or the lion in cross angles.

The "Sign of the White Rose" is an order of women , a silver unenamelled order cross that is worn on the ribbon. In times of war, this bronze medal can be awarded with swords.

The medal of the White Rose shows the cross of the order on the obverse and is worn on its ribbon.
