Order of the Star of Ghana is the highest award of the state of Ghana . The order was founded in 1960.

The ribbon of this order has the colors of the Ghanaian flag from left to right in the order red, yellow, green. In the past, Ghana's independence anniversaries (March 6, 1957) were used to honor special people with the Order of the Star of Ghana. The award is also given posthumously.

In 1977, on the 20th anniversary of Ghana's independence, Prince Charles was among the recipients of the highest Ghanaian order.

President Jerry Rawlings awarded the Order of the Star of Ghana on the 40th anniversary in 1997 to Ebenezer Ako-Adjei , among others .

President John Agyekum Kufuor used the 50th anniversary in 2007 to honor 31 people in Ghanaian and world history with the highest order in Ghana.
