Oreska band ( jap オ レ ス カ バ ン ド , Oresukabando , proper spelling ORESKABAND ) is a women's J-Ska band from Sakai , Japan .
history
The band name literally means "We are a ska band" . “Ore” is usually an extremely masculine and casual way of saying “I” in Japanese, and the suffix “-Tachi” is usually added to emphasize nouns that they are plural.
Oreskaband was formed in 2003 when the members were in middle school and still performing in local clubs. They produced their first album Penpal in 2005 and were signed to Sony Music in 2006 . At this point, all members were still in high school .
The group has released two albums in Japan; in July 2006 “Ore” and in May 2007 “WAO!” . In 2007 the album "Oreska Band" was also released in the USA . Oreskaband performs in both the United States and Japan. Two of her songs were used as endings of the Japanese anime Naruto and Bleach.
The band gained media attention through their appearance in a commercial of the Japanese snack Pocky and the use of their song Pinocchio as the fourteenth ending theme of the anime Naruto . In August 2006 the band performed at the Fuji Rock Festival . In March 2007, the band members graduated from high school, toured the United States and performed in Austin, Texas , Los Angeles, and San Francisco . In April 2007, her song Tsumasaki was used as the eleventh ending for the anime Bleach . They played in July 2007 at the Anime Expo in Long Beach, California , on the Vans Warped Tour in Roseville, California, and in Portland . The band appeared in the movie Lock and Roll Forever .
In 2010 the album Color was released. In 2016 saxophonist Moriko left the band to start a family. The next album Oreskaband's Slogan was recorded with the new saxophonist ADD and released that same year. At the end of 2018, Saki took a break to start a career as a songwriter and trumpeter Hisae Ōtomari has played as a guest with the band since January 2019. In October 2019 the new member CC joined the band as keyboard player.
