Ortwin Nimczik

Ortwin Nimczik (* 1956 in Bochum ) is a German music teacher .

Life

Nimczik studied composition and school music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen as well as education, philosophy and musicology at the Ruhr University in Bochum . From 1985 to 1994 he worked in the North Rhine-Westphalian school service. Most recently he was Director of Studies and Head of Music at the Dortmund Study Seminar. In 1991 he was at Klaus Schaller at the Faculty of Philosophy, Education and Journalism at the Ruhr University Bochum Dr. phil. PhD.

Since 1994 he has been Professor of Music Education and Music Didactics at the Detmold University of Music . He also heads the music teacher training course.

Since 1994 he has been co-editor of the magazine Musik & Bildung . From 2006 to 2014 he was Federal Chairman of the Association of German School Musicians with interruptions . In 2014 he became President of the Federal Association for Music Education . Since 2010 he has been a member of the Federal Education Committee of the German Music Council .

His focus is on new music , musical design, and theory and practice of music lessons .
