Oscar , whose full name is José Oscar Bernardi (born June 20, 1954 in Monte Sião , Minas Gerais ), is a former Brazilian football player and coach . Between 1978 and 1986 he played 60 games as a defender for the Brazilian national soccer team and took part in three soccer world championships .
After his career as a player in Japan with Nissan Motors (1987-1989) he became a coach there (1989-1991) and then worked as a soccer coach for seven other clubs until 1998. In 1988 he was voted Footballer of the Year in Japan.
