Oscar Hoppe (physicist)

Oscar Hoppe (born March 24, 1838 in Hufhaus near Ilfeld , † November 29, 1923 in Clausthal ) was a German physicist .

Life

After graduating from school in 1858, Oscar Hoppe first worked for a locksmith and later in the mechanical engineering institute and iron foundry in Ilsenburg before studying at the Polytechnic School in Hanover from 1860 to 1864 . In 1864 he passed the state examination for railway engineering and got a job as an engineer in Clausthal. In 1868 he was appointed lecturer for mechanical engineering and physics at the Bergakademie Clausthal , where the later Secret Bergrat worked from 1888 to 1911 as professor for technical mechanics and physics. In addition, he dealt extensively with electrical engineering.

On February 1, 1881, Oscar Hoppe was accepted as a member ( matriculation number 2296 ) in the Leopoldina .
