Oscar Martin Jaster (born September 24, 1894 in Graefenhausen , † April 27, 1945 in Potsdam ) was a German paramilitary activist and SA leader, most recently with the rank of SA group leader .

Live and act

After the First World War , Jaster was briefly a member of the Reichswehr. In the 1920s he orientated himself politically in the camp of the political right: For example, he belonged to the Young German Order at times . In 1923 he also took part in the fight against the French occupation troops during the so-called Ruhrkampf .

Around 1930 Jaster joined the NSDAP and its street combat unit, the Sturmabteilung (SA). On January 1, 1932, he was promoted to SA-Standartenführer in the latter.

From January 1, 1932 to February 19, 1933 Jaster acted as staff leader of the SA sub-group Hessen-Darmstadt; then from February 20 to March 31, 1933, he held the post of Staff Leader of SA Upper Group III (SA Group West, Thuringia and Southwest). His official seat in this position was in Koblenz .

Shortly after the National Socialists came to power, on April 1, 1933, he took on the position of adjutant of SA-Obergruppe IV in Munich , which he retained until June 30, 1933. From November 20, 1933 to March 31, 1934 he then officiated - after a reorganization of the SA upper groups and groups - as staff leader of the same group which now operated as SA upper group VII and which comprised the groups Bayerische Ostmark, Franken and Hochland. During this time he was promoted to SA brigade leader on November 20, 1933 .

On October 5, 1934, Jaster was assigned to the SA group Thuringia . A previously issued command to SA Group Ostland was revoked. There he remained without a task (?) Until May 14, 1935.

From May 15, 1935 to September 14, 1935, Jaster officiated as the commissioned leader of SA Brigade 42 Thuringia-North (later Thuringia-Center), which he then led regularly from September 15, 1935 to July 31, 1938. During these years he also held the post of a supervisory board member of the Erfurter Elektro Straßenbahn AG in Erfurt .

From August 1, 1938 to January 31, 1942, Jaster acted as staff leader of the Westphalia SA group in Dortmund . Due to the war-related thinning of the SA's personnel, he was deputy leader of this group from May 1941 to January 31, 1942. On February 1, 1942, he then moved to the SA group Oder , which he led as a representative until March 31, 1943 and then as a regular leader from April 1, 1943 until his death.

On February 2, 1942, Jaster was appointed to the Prussian Provincial Council of the Province of Westphalia and in 1943 to the Prussian Provincial Council of the Province of Mark Brandenburg.

Jaster shot himself on April 27, 1945 shortly before the end of the Second World War , during the occupation of Potsdam by the Red Army .
