Oscar Milani

Oscar Milani (born November 24, 1946 in Rosario , Argentina ) is a German-Argentine harpsichordist .

Life

Milani studied medicine and then music in Rosario and Buenos Aires . Thanks to a grant from the Bariloche Foundation, he specialized in harpsichord , chamber music and historical performance practice . He began his career as a soloist and continuo player in Argentina with the Camerata Bariloche chamber orchestra . Several tours have taken him with the orchestra through South America and Europe.

In his striving for authenticity, he built one of the first harpsichords in his country based on original models. In 1978 Oscar Milani came to Germany. A DAAD scholarship enabled him to continue his studies first in Lübeck and then in Geneva with Marinette Extermann .

He studied with Kenneth Gilbert at the Stuttgart Music Academy . There he completed his studies with the final artistic examination as the best graduate in his class. Further courses followed with Johann Sonnleitner , Colin Tilney, Bob van Asperen and Gustav Leonhardt, among others .

Oscar Milani is the initiator of numerous courses in southern Germany, such as the “Early Music Week” in Neuburg an der Donau . There was diminished by Gabriel Garrido , Jean Tubéry , Paolo Pandolfo and Han Tol with. Since 1981 he has been teaching figured bass and harpsichord at the Nuremberg University of Music and since 1993 at the Bayreuth University of Protestant Church Music .

As a member of ensembles as well as a soloist, he made many radio and CD recordings. He transcribed works by Astor Piazzolla and the orchestral suites by Johann Sebastian Bach (together with Mario Raskin).
