Oskar Boehm

Oskar Böhm (born January 6, 1916 in Kandel (Palatinate) ; † June 27, 2001 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Böhm attended elementary school and did an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk from 1930 to 1933. He attended technical and vocational school and was a commercial clerk from 1933 to 1936. From 1936 to 1937 he served in the Reich Labor Service and was then in the Wehrmacht and did military service (most recently chief sergeant in a news department). In 1945/1946 he was an American and French prisoner of war. From 1946 to 1957 he was head of the Kandel employment office branch.

politics

From 1928 until the National Socialists came to power , Böhm was a member of the SAJ , head of the SAJ district of Kandel and a member of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . In 1946 he became a member of the district council and the district committee of Germersheim and in 1952 a member of the Kandel city council, alderman. In 1953 he became honorary and in 1957 full-time mayor of the city of Kandel (Palatinate) . From 1972 to 1981 he was the association and city mayor at the same time. After that he was honorary mayor of Kandel until 1989.

He belonged from 1963 to 1975 for the SPD to the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate on. In 1969 he was a member of the 6th Federal Assembly .

In the SPD he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Germersheim and southern Palatinate, honorary chairman of the SPD district of Germersheim and a member of the SPD district executive board of the Palatinate.

Further commitment

In 1946 Böhm took part in the founding of the men's choir Volkschor Kandel . From 1955 to 1995 he was chairman of the sponsoring association of the Volkshochschule in Kandel. He was co-founder in 1963 and also chairman of the Bienwald carnival society Die Krautköpp until 1990 .

Honors

• He was awarded the Marie Juchacz plaque from the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in 1982.
• He was made an honorary citizen of Kandel in 1991 and was an honorary citizen of Whitworth .
