Volpertshausen is part of the municipality of Hüttenberg . The community is located in Central Hesse in the Lahn-Dill district south of Wetzlar .
Geographical location
Volpertshausen is located in the eastern Hintertaunus ( Wetzlarer Hintertaunus ) in the Taunus Nature Park . The Schwingbach flows through the village .
Adjacent villages are Weidenhausen (northeast), Vollnkirchen (southeast) and Reiskirchen (northwest).
history
A church was mentioned as early as 1349 , but the service no longer took place there, but in the new church. From 1816 to 1976 Volpertshausen belonged to the Wetzlar district and since January 1, 1977 to the Lahn-Dill district.
Volpertshausen became famous for the "Ball in the Country" held on June 9, 1772. Johann Wolfgang Goethe came to Volpertshausen with young people from Wetzlar, where he was an intern at the Imperial Court of Justice. He later described this ball in his epistolary novel The Sorrows of Young Werther .
Territorial reform
In the course of administrative reform in Hesse on 1 January 1977, the autonomous communities at this time Volpertshausen, Hüttenberg, were Schwingbach and Reiskirchen powerful state law to the new greater community Hüttenberg together . For Volpertshausen, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local council was formed.
