Oskar Geiges
Oskar Geiges (born December 1, 1849 , † February 3, 1923 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German architect and building contractor.
Oskar Geiges was the son of the architect and later city builder of Freiburg Sigmund Geiges (1810–1898) and his second wife Elisabeth Stein, his half-brother was Fritz Geiges (1853–1935).
He led the architecture and construction business Oskar and Franz Geiges in Freiburg, which built numerous buildings, especially in the Wiehre district .
In 1875/77 he was the site manager for the construction of St. Stephen's Church in Bremgarten . In 1880/84 he managed the renovation of the historic department store in Freiburg as a construction manager . In a tender for the construction of a Bismarck tower on Freiburg's Schloßberg, his design won a sign of flame on the Upper Rhine! and was built by him from the end of May 1900 and inaugurated on July 28, 1900. In 1901 he designed a neo-Gothic style burial chapel for the Mitscherlich family in Freiburg's main cemetery .
Oskar Geiges was one of the founding members of the Breisgau association Schau-ins-Land in 1873 .
His son and colleague was the architect Franz Geiges (1879–1968), his grandson the architect Hans Geiges (1904–1988).
