Oskar Wahlström (born August 16, 1976 in Bie , Katrineholm municipality ) is a Swedish professional football player . The goalkeeper was under contract with Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan between 2004 and 2009 and won the Svenska Cup with the club in 2004 and the double of the championship and the Swedish national cup in 2005.

Career

Wahlström started playing soccer in his hometown at Bie GoIF . Then he went to Katrineholms SK . From the fifth division, he finally moved to IFK Västerås in 1998 , where he completed 33 league games and in 2000 to Västerås SK in the Superettan . As a regular goalkeeper, he ran for the second division and contributed in the second division season of 2003 with 28 appearances to keep the club from relegation.

Thus Wahlström also convinced higher class and was signed in 2004 by Djurgårdens IF as a substitute goalkeeper behind Pa Dembo Tourray . Since then, he has been used irregularly in the Allsvenskan, but was able to celebrate the Swedish championship title with the club in 2005 - albeit without playing time during the season. But he was in the cup games between the posts in the same year and thus contributed to reaching the final of the Svenska Cup . In the 2-0 win with goals from Toni Kuivasto and Tobias Hysén over Assyriska Föreningen in the final, he was also in the club's goal. After its three-year contract expired, the club decided at the end of 2006 to extend the contract by two years.

After Wahlström was unable to finally prevail at Djurgårdens IF, he returned to Västerås after his contract expired in December 2008. In the middle of the month, the Stockholm club and the player agreed to extend the contract for another season. He came again only as a substitute for Pa Dembo Touray, who was injured due to injury, to a total of six season games in the 2009 season . Therefore, he decided to leave the club again after the end of the season.

Wahström then returned to his former play station Västerås SK, where he was hired as an assistant coach and sporadically comes to his assignments in the men's team. With the team he made it to the second highest Swedish football league in 2010 , where he himself made a league appearance this season. After promotion he has guarded the goal of his team in two games so far, but was one of several goalkeepers who were represented in the professional squad of Västerås at the time.
