Oskar Weggel
Oskar Weggel (born September 18, 1935 in Pfarrkirchen ) is a German expert on Asia.
Weggel has published numerous books on Chinese and Taiwanese topics as part of his longstanding work at the Institute for Asian Studies in Hamburg . He also worked as a specialist commentator on radio and television and as a consultant for the German government.
biography
In addition to law, Oskar Weggel also studied Sinology and worked at the Institute for Asian Studies as a speaker with a research focus on the People's Republic of China and Indochina .
Weggel passed his first and second state exams in Munich . He also studied modern Chinese in Bonn and Taibei .
He is a board member of the German Society for Asian Studies and was for many years a speaker at the Institute for Asian Studies (today: GIGA ), where he has been working as a freelancer since retiring in 2000.
Weggel published a total of 28 books and around 700 articles on Asia-related topics.
