Osman Engin
Osman Engin (born September 25, 1960 near İzmir ) is a German satirist of Turkish descent. He became known both as a writer and through radio contributions . The studied social pedagogue has lived in Germany since he was twelve and lives in Bremen .

Since 1983 Osman Engin has regularly published satirical short stories from German-Turkish everyday life in magazines and newspapers, e. B. in the Frankfurter Rundschau , the Titanic or the taz .
His first independent book was published in 1985 with Der Deutschling .
Engin received various awards for his satires, in addition to a literary prize in his hometown of Bremen, among other things, literary prizes in Berlin and Gelsenkirchen .
2006 followed the ARD - media award , was nominated again for the Engin from 2004. He received it for the short WDR magazine contribution I am Pope , who, according to the jury, "plays humorously with everyday prejudices and clichés" . Engin succeeded in "an impressive satire on German-Turkish relations and the often absurd situations when dealing with supposed foreigners" .
To date, texts by Engin have also appeared in German, French, Danish, Dutch, Swedish and Canadian school books.
Osman Engin has a radio section "Everyday life in the Ottoman Empire " on COSMO ( Radio Bremen 96.7 / WDR 103.3) every Wednesday afternoon .
One of his novels, Kanaken-Gandhi (2000), is currently being filmed.
