The Eastern Siberia shipping company was founded on August 17, 1885 by the Russian businessman Sibirjakow.

The Eastern Siberia shipping company carries out the transport of goods and people by sea in the Irkutsk Oblast and in the Republic of Buryatia . It is the largest shipping company in Eastern Siberia , the oldest shipping company in Siberia and the main freight carrier on Lake Baikal , the Selenga and the Angara . The Irkutsk Oblast is rich in water, which is why many ferries are in operation, the largest of which belong to the Eastern Siberia shipping company and are stationed on the island of Olkhon , in Listvyanka , in Balagansk and Swirsk .

Around half a million people are transported each season. In the city of Irkutsk the company operates two jetties , “Raketa” and “Gagarin”, the first of which is located in the Solnetschny residential area on the banks of Chertugeevsky Bay and is the starting point for all company trips on Angara and Lake Baikal.
